Adoptions

While adopting a child is a great source of joy, the process itself can be long and difficult.  Having the assistance of a qualified attorney is undeniably beneficial—doing so simplifies the adoption process on many levels, reducing the amount of stress in your life as you prepare for a new family member.  It also helps you avoid legal pitfalls and delays that may otherwise greatly lengthen the adoption process.

Mr. Roles provides hands-on attention to adoption clients and helps you navigate the arduous legal web surrounding adopting a child in Texas.

Child support

The governing principle behind child support is the idea that a child's quality of life should not suffer because his or her parents have dissolved their marriage.  As such, custodial parents—and children—depend on child support checks each month from the noncustodial parent.  Mr. Roles supports clients in helping to ensure that the amount of child support ordered to be paid is consistent with Texas law.

Child custody

Child custody is a crucial issue to be settled when parents divorce.  While many factors are relevant in any child custody dispute, the overriding factor is determining what is in the best interests of the child.  An integral part of any child custody case involves a thorough review of the facts and circumstances surrounding the children.  Mr. Roles helps you prepare for your child custody hearing.  He thoroughly investigates the facts of your case to construct carefully organized arguments on your behalf.  Mr. Roles fully investigates and prepares your case to maximize the chance for a favorable resolution.

Enforcement actions

Divorce decrees and other orders signed by Texas judges would mean little if there was no legal mechanism available to enforce those orders.  While not every order can be subject to an enforcement action, the two most common examples are failure to pay child support as ordered and failure to abide by visitation orders pertaining to the children.  In some instances, the previous order can even be enforced via contempt of court, which can be a criminal offense.  Mr. Roles has experience successfully enforcing a variety of orders.   He works diligently to ensure the violating party is held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Mr. Roles has also successfully defended against a number of enforcement actions.

Modifications

Texas law recognizes that the circumstances of you and/or your family may change significantly after a divorce or other order pertaining to your children has been rendered.  For example, a person ordered to pay child support may lose their job or experience a substantial increase in their income.  Or, the provisions pertaining to the conservatorship, custody, or possession of the children may prove unworkable or inappropriate.  In these and other types of situations, you may wish to file a suit to modify a previous order of the court.  Mr. Roles has experience handling a number of successful modification actions, including the defense of modification suits.  He has the knowledge and ability necessary to assist you in these situations.
